Intellectual Property Fraud

Intellectual Property theft is a constant concern to our industry not only to those who produce and sell software but every one of us involved in the supply and service of product to our customers. First and foremost the unauthorised copying of software is a fraudulent activity. Secondly those who sell it undermine the credibilty of our industry as far as the customer and public at large are concerned. Thirdly, illegal copying of software takes substantial revenues out of the legitimate channel.

The TCA will take every step to assist in identifying those who take part in this illegal activity. If any of our members or any member of the public are aware of or suspect that some person or business may be involved in illegal software trading we would like to be informed. We will then take the appropriate steps to investgate.

A telephone call, or email to admin@tcauk.org is all it takes, giving as much substantiation as possible. Information will be treated confidentially and only the information provided - rather than the source - will be passed on. Needless to say if any such allegation is proved we will be making sure that it is made public and a message sent out as a warning to others who may be acting in a similar fraudulent fashion.
